Search examples and use cases
A lot of our clients ask how to collect profiles matching certain criteria, for example, they need only CXOs working in a particular industry in a particular country. In this article, we cover this question in more detail for you to know how to use Linked Helper and LinkedIn search in a more productive way.
As you probably already know, Linked Helper 2 works as a smart browser, it doesn't hack LinkedIn, i.e. it is not able to fetch the profiles from the LinkedIn database directly, or offer more filters than your LinkedIn account subscription can offer.
Linked Helper has built-in filters so you can review profiles once they are collected from LinkedIn, but there are several things to keep in mind prior to collecting everyone in the campaign Queue:
- Basic LinkedIn search has limited result output: I have more than 1000 contacts. How to collect all of them thru search?
- If you use a free LinkedIn subscription, the number of your search requests is limited: LinkedIn Commercial Use Limit.
- A lot of search requests or a lot of collected profiles in a short period of time may cause issues with LinkedIn as that can be considered as a system abuse: What kind of limits should I use?
Hence if you want to get a lot of valuable leads and not get in trouble with LinkedIn, it is better to use search keywords and accurately adjust LinkedIn search filters prior to collecting in order to avoid extra activity and fetching unwanted profiles that must be reviewed and delete / excluded late via Linked Helper.
This article is helpful not only for sales and marketers but for recruiters as well since candidates fine filtering greatly increases the changes to find the right candidate.
Let us quickly review the sources where Linked Helper can collect profiles from, as well as LinkedIn filtering abilities, and some best practices.

CSV or TXT files
You can upload profiles from a CSV file that contains LinkedIn URLs to profiles - How to Upload Profiles URLs into Linked Helper. Linked Helper add only links and fill in profiles' info while processing them.
Please, note that .doc, .xls, .xlsx, and other file types with complex structure are not supported, but you can always paste the links directly into input field:
Linked Helper CSV
If you received a CSV file that was downloaded from another Linked Helper, you can upload it via the Upload profiles fromLH CSV method - How to upload profiles' data from Linked Helper CSV file.
The main difference from the option mentioned above is that Linked Helper uploads additional information such us first and last name, headline, company, position, and some other information that may be helpful.
LinkedIn pages saved as HTML
Linked Helper provides a huge variety of sources, where you can add profiles from, but unfortunately, not all pages are supported. However, as a workaround, you can upload the URLs from the unsupported page via standard Linked Helper function - uploading URLs. It is not as convenient as automatic collecting, but it will allow you to upload links without the need to copy and paste them one by one or making another search, hence saving your time and effort.
Here is the instruction:
- In your browser, open a LinkedIn page where you want to collect URLs from (let's take Jobs tab of the Notifications page as an example - https://www.linkedin.com/notifications/?filter=jobs_all).
- Scroll the page down as deep as possible.
Please, note that:- if there is a pagination (i.e. there are pages with results as you get in a usual LinkedIn search), then you need to save each page with results separately;
- if there is infinite scrolling (results are being loaded as you scroll down, like in the News feed or Notifications page), then you need to scroll down as deep as possible to fetch as many results as possible before saving the page;
- with infinite scrolling, it is not possible to start working from the place you stopped at after the page is closed or another page is opened.
- Make right-click on any place on the page.
- Choose Save as option:
- Save the page as Web page, Complete:
- Upload the HTML file as per the instruction in this article: How to Upload Profiles URLs into Linked Helper?

Search examples and use cases
Case 1: Remove contacts from your 1st connections who are not from a certain country.
- Create a campaign with the "Remove from 1st connections" action
- Go to the search page of any platform, filter your search by 1-st connections relationship status and USA location.
- You can find an already made search for each platform here:
- Collect filtered contacts into the "Exclude" list of your newly created campaign with the "Remove from 1st connections" action.
- After all contacts from the USA are in the exclude list, you can collect all contacts from the "My network page" into the queue of your "Remove from 1st connections" action and remove those contacts from your network. Those profiles who are from the USA and whom you want to leave in your network won't be collected and removed.
Case 2: Use multiple values in a search filter
- set up filters: type of search, companies, relationship level, etc.
- add Boolean search request line in the Title field:
“Chief Executive Officer” OR “Chief Operating Officer” OR “Chief Financial Officer” OR “Chief Technology Officer” OR “Chief Information Officer” OR “Chief Compliance Officer”
Case 3: Collect contacts from a certain group and a certain location.
- Create a campaign with to send messages to you group members if you still don't have it:
- Next, you need to collect contacts from your Sales Navigator search into the "Collect group members only" campaign with one visiting action:
After you've collected your contacts, you need to provide a "Group ID" for the collected profiles manually in order for Linked Helper 2 to know which group to use to send messages.
- install Override platform plugin
- find group ID. It can be found in the group URL when opened in Basic LinkedIn, for example, the URL of LinkedIn for Business is https://www.linkedin.com/groups/4467972/, so the ID is 4467972:
- navigate to the Action Queue:
- select all profiles and
Done! After that, the contacts platform will be changed to LinkedIn and Linked Helper 2 will send a message to those contacts as group members.
- Collect contacts from the group members list
- Scrape their profiles with the Visit & Extract profiles action
- Download them in a CSV file - How to download profiles from Linked Helper?
- Open in MS Excel - How to Import CSV file into MS Excel?
- Filter profiles by location:
- Upload filtered profiles back to your campaign - How to Upload Profiles URLs into Linked Helper?
Case 4: Collect recently active profiles
Some clients want to get in touch with only those leads who are active on LinkedIn since that makes the chances of success a little higher.
Via Sales Navigator
There is no filter that fetches leads who are active on LinkedIn in terms of messaging with anyone, viewing profiles, searching for other leads, and similar kind of activity. However, Sales Navigator provides you with the ability to filter those who posted anything on LinkedIn recently. The "Posted on LinkedIn in past 30 days" filter can serve our purpose, even though it does not cover all the activities one would like to filter profiles by:
Via Basic LinkedIn
Unfortunately, Basic LinkedIn does not provide its users with any filter that could help to solve this task, so the only workaround left is to use Sales Navigator subscription and "Posted on LinkedIn in past 30 days" filter.
Case 5: Collect Event attendees
LinkedIn introduced a new feature called Events, which provides LinkedIn members with an easy way to create and join professional Events that interest them, such as meetups, online workshops, seminars, and more.
There is no Event filter for profiles in LinkedIn search, but it is possible to fetch all attendees of a particular event provided that you're attending the same event and allowed to see the participants.
You can find detailed instructions in the How to invite connections to join Event article (see p. Collect those who accepted the invitation). This workaround can be helpful if you organized an Event and want to get a list of attendees or if the Event you're interested in contains a lot of potential leads / profiles you want to connect with.
