Currently, when you upload profiles from CSV, Linked Helper can get only URLs from that file, even if other data is presented. A new method called "Upload profiles from Linked Helper's CSV" allows you to upload to Linked Helper other data that is presented in CSV but only if that CSV was downloaded from Linked Helper version 1.8.23 or above and has a checksum at the end of each line.
This option can be helpful for marketers who want to collect profiles on one LinkedIn account and distribute leads across several others.
How to upload a CSV with profiles information
First of all, you need a CSV that was created by downloading profiles from Linked Helper. You need to make sure that the version of Linked Helper is 1.8.23 or above (you can check the version in the Linked Helper window title bar).
- Navigate to the list that you want to download, select the profiles and click on "Download":
- Select needed delimiter and download profiles in CSV:
- Now we have a CSV that was created by downloading profiles from Linked Helper:
Note: we do not recommend editing the data cells in the CSV before uploading since modifications can lead to incorrect checksum, hence the data in the line won't be imported. In case you modify the column header cell or add a new column, the file won't be loaded at all which is not the Linked Helper bug but a protection measure.
If you already have a CSV file sent by your colleague, for example, make sure it has the checksum at the end of each line as it is shown in the screenshot above.
To upload CSV, please:
- Navigate to the campaign or action where you want to upload LH CSV and click on "Add":
- Select "Upload Profiles from LH CSV", choose the CSV downloaded from another LinkedIn account and click on "Import":
- If you didn't previously open and re-save the file and didn't make any changes to it, it will upload without any issues:
- If you navigate back to Queue, you can see that all profiles were uploaded with additional data, which is enough for Linked Helper for in-page navigation.
How does it work and what data can be transferred
When downloading profiles to CSV from the program version 1.8.23 or above, Linked Helper generates a checksum for each line and saves it at the end of the line in the CSV. When you are uploading such CSV, Linked Helper again generates a checksum for each line and then compares the generated checksum with the one in the file. If both are the same, then the data in the line is saved in the database, but if they are different, then Linked Helper won't upload any data from the line.
Here are data columns that can be imported from the CSV file:
Profiles data |
Organizations data |
original_first_name | name |
original_last_name | logo |
headline | type |
avatar | description |
custom_first_name | tagline |
custom_last_name | website |
phone | |
industry | staff_count |
location_name | staff_count_range_start |
summary | staff_count_range_end |
current_company | follower_count |
current_company_position | headquarter_country |
badges_premium | headquarter_geographic_area |
badges_influencer | headquarter_city |
badges_open_link | headquarter_postal_code |
badges_job_seeker | headquarter_line1 |
address | headquarter_line2 |

Possible issues and solutions
Note: we do not recommend editing the data cells in the CSV before uploading because:
- modifications can lead to the line incorrect checksum;
- some programs for editing text files like MS Excel or LibreOffice may open the file using a different character encoding (not UTF-8) and as a result, some characters will be changed automatically, which leads to incorrect symbols saving when the file is closed;
- most of the text processor programs like MS Exel or Google Sheets autoformat the data which leads to incorrect symbols saving when the file is closed.
In all the cases above the data in the line or sometimes in the whole file won't be imported.
Profiles were processed with error
If you see such a message, then it means some cells in the file were modified, then those lines were not uploaded and Linked Helper indicated which lines had invalid checksum:
As a solution, redownload the CSV file from Linked Helper and try to upload the file again without modifying it.
Invalid headers check sum
In case you modify the column header cell or add a new column, the file won't be loaded at all which is not the Linked Helper bug but a protection measure:
Solutions:
- If you didn't modify the file yourself, then most likely some values were auto formatted by the program you opened the file in. As a solution, re-download the CSV file from Linked Helper and try again.
- If you did modify the file, you need to (steps 1 - 2 can be omitted if you downloaded the file from the same LinkedIn instance where you are going to upload the modified file to):
- Re-download the file.
- Create a new test campaign and upload unmodified file into that campaign.
- Upload the modified file into the campaign where profiles should be added via this method: How to Upload Profiles URLs into Linked Helper
URLs were not uploaded
If Linked Helper 2 shows that profile URLs are uploaded, but they haven't been uploaded, or profiles are not being uploaded at all, then you should know that this is not a Linked Helper 2 bug and may have happened due to the duplicates in the Campaign / Action list.
If the profiles are already in the Queue, Exclude list or they were already processed by an action to which you are trying to upload these profiles, then Linked Helper 2 will not add these profiles in order to avoid duplicates - How to avoid duplicates
What benefits this feature gives
This is a very useful and handy feature because:
- When you get a list of leads from your colleague who also uses Linked Helper 2, profile information is available right after uploading.
Previously, it was not possible to transfer any profile data apart from URLs between the LinkedIn accounts. So if you receive a CSV file from your colleague and wanted to briefly review profiles prior to processing, then you needed to visit them in order to collect basic info such as names, headlines, avatars, etc. Now, this basic information can be easily fetched from the CSV file that was downloaded from the Linked Helper 2 version 1.8.23 or above.
- When uploading profiles with extra information, it is possible for Linked Helper to navigate via search hence completely imitating human behavior.
If you collect profiles from one LinkedIn account with a premium subscription and upload them to another LinkedIn account without any subscription. Previously, if you downloaded profiles with Linked Helper from one account and uploaded them to another account, Linked Helper could upload only URLs of those profiles. The problem here is that LinkedIn may log you out if you navigate to ~50 LinkedIn profiles via their URLs even manually, and to avoid that, Linked Helper has a limit of 40 navigations through URLs per 24 hours. This is a default limit that can be found in the "Advanced limits" tab:
Linked Helper 2 avoids such logouts by "in-page navigation": if Linked Helper has additional data for the profile except for its URL, then Linked Helper can type the name of the profile in the search bar and navigate to profile through "preloaded profile", which LinkedIn gives as a result:
But in-page navigation doesn't work if Linked Helper doesn't have the data for profile's first and last names, which usually happens when you upload URLs into Linked Helper instead of collecting profiles from search.
"Upload profiles from LH CSV" feature solves this problem as it also uploads other data like first name, last name to Linked Helper and in this case, it will have enough data for the in-page navigation instead of pasting the URL of the profile and navigating through it.
