- Check system-wide proxy settings
- Check whether LinkedIn can be accessed via a browser
- Check your IP address protocol
- Make sure you have firewall enabled and its settings are correct
- Temporarily disable your antivirus
- If you're using a proxy for LinkedIn instance, check whether it is working or not
- Check whether the issue persists when using a different PC / internet service provider
- Check whether you have access to LinkedIn domains
Sometimes you may face the following error while opening a LinkedIn instance:
Failed to load LinkedIn:
netwrok issue
please check your network connection or proxy settings
-324 ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE (-324) loading 'https://www.linkedin.com/'"
This error message appears when the LinkedIn website can't be reached because of the issues with your internet connection, VPN / proxy server, or when the internet service provider blocks access to LinkedIn.
The most probable solution would be to check and change the proxy settings in your operating system. Please, find the instructions below and if automatic proxy settings detection is enabled, then you need to disable it and try again.
If automatic proxy settings detection is already disabled but Linked Helper does not work, please, try to enable it and check again:
Check system-wide proxy settings
For Windows 10:
- Type "Proxy settings" in Windows search and open them:
- Disable "Automatically detect settings", "Use setup script", and "Manual proxy setup" option in Proxy menu:
For MAC:
-
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Network.
-
Select the network service you use in the list, for example, Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
-
Click Advanced, then click Proxies.
- Select the Proxies tab then uncheck all protocols under Select a protocol to configure then click OK once done.
For Ubuntu:
- Open System Settings in Ubuntu.
- On the left-hand side plane, click on Network
- In the Network proxy click the Gear button and choose Disabled
If the above-mentioned solution did not help, please, check the solutions below.
Check whether LinkedIn can be accessed via browser
Try to open LinkedIn via Chrome browser with VPN or proxy disabled. If you can't access LinkedIn in your regular web-browser, then it means that something is wrong with your network or its settings and Linked Helper 2 won't be able to reach LinkedIn too.
Please, note that access to LinkedIn can be restricted in some countries (Russia, for example), and the LinkedIn website is blacklisted on the internet service provider level which means you won't be able to access LinkedIn without proxy / VPN.
As a solution, please, try to install a VPN program or add a proxy to Linked Helper 2 and assign it to your LinkedIn account:
If you have VPN / proxy enabled, please try to disable it in case the connection is blocked by the proxy / VPN provider. We also suggest trying different proxy / VPN provider and not choosing geolocation where access to LinkedIn is restricted on the level of Internet Service Providers.
Check your IP address protocol
A the moment, Linked Helper cannot work with IPv6 addresses directly unless IPv6 is implemented there as a tunnel from IPv4 to IPv6. If access to the internet is provided via IPv6, you need to either use IPv4 proxy for Linked Helper or use VPN.
How to differ IPv4 from IPv6:
- IPv4 address looks like 4 groups of 1- 3 digit numbers, for example: 192.168.0.1
- IPv6 address consists of 8 groups of 4 hexadecimal digits, for example: 2001:0db8:0000:0000:0000:8a2e:0370:7334
To check your IP address please:
- open a website that can detect your IP address, for example, https://whatismyipaddress.com/
- check whether you have both IPv4 and IPv6 access
In the first picture below I access the internet only via IPv4 protocol, and my Linked Helper works fine:
However, if you see the same picture as in the image below, most likely the root of the issue is in the fact that you access the internet via IPv6:
As a solution, please, try to install a VPN program or add a proxy to Linked Helper 2 and assign it to your LinkedIn account:
Make sure you have firewall enabled and its settings are correct
In some cases, disabled firewalls or incorrect firewall rules may disrupt Linked Helper work. Please, review this article and make sure you don't have incorrect rules in your system firewall and it is enabled: Linked Helper instance won't load, but stuck on 'Initializing..'
Temporarily disable your antivirus
Some anti-viruses may contain built-in firewalls that can interrupt Linked Helper's work as well.
As a solution, please, try to temporarily disable or uninstall any antivirus and try again. Linked Helper 2 does not contain any virus, malware, spying software, or dangerous code. If Linked Helper works with antivirus disabled, then you need to white-list its executable files that are stored here:
%localappdata%\linked-helper
If you're using a proxy for LinkedIn instance, check whether it is working or not
Linked Helper works as a smart browser so in order to operate correctly it needs access to LinkedIn. It could happen that your proxy is working in general, but does not work with LinkedIn in particular.
Via Linked Helper
Linked Helper has a built-in function to test the proxy. When you choose a proxy and click the "Test connection button", Linked Helper tries to open the LinkedIn login web page to check whether it can be loaded without any issue.
Via Chrome browser
As it was already mentioned, Linked Helper needs a LinkedIn website to be accessible via proxy. If the proxy test via Linked Helper fails, you can check the proxy via Chrome browser to be 100% sure the issue is not caused by Linked Helper.
In order to do that, please:
- Install Best Proxy Switcher extension that allows to apply the proxy directly to Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/lgkgpmoglpemohmihphdaljcjnfkndoi
- Click on the extension icon and then on Import proxy list menu:
- Add your proxy credentials to the list, one proxy - one line, in the format of login:password@IP:port, for example:
login:password@192.168.0.1:2000
- make sure all other VPN / proxy extensions or programs are switched off and try to open LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/
Via proxy checker
If you are experiencing network errors while using proxy servers, then you should know that most of the time it's not a Linked Helper 2 fault. You can use the proxy6.net website or any other website to check if your proxy server is working. Please, follow these steps:
- Open https://proxy6.net/en/checker
- Insert your proxy credentials as it is shown on the page:
For example, if your proxy is 14.45.346.234, the port is 8000. Your login is qwer and password zxcv, then you need no type it in like that:
- Click "Check proxy"
- Then, scroll down a little and see the results of your test. If your proxy is working, it should look like this:
Check whether the issue persists when using a different PC / internet service provider
If you are not using Linked Helper in a corporate network or do not have a corporate VPN, but the above solutions did not help, then you need to check whether the same error occurs when:
- Linked Helper is opened on another PC, but using the same internet service provider;
- Linked Helper is opened on the same PC, but with a different internet service provider, for example, when you use your mobile phone as a hotspot.
These checks help us to understand whether the issue only occurs on a certain PC or with a certain internet service provider.
Check whether you have access to LinkedIn domains
If you are using a corporate network or corporate VPN, then it could be that access to the LinkedIn website is blocked by company rules. Check with your company system administrator whether the below mentioned domains are blocked. In order to be able to work with Linked Helper 2 and LinkedIn, you need to have network access to these domains:
