- How to attach a personalized image from Uclic
Reply rate, click-through rate, conversion rate, and some other rates I might have forgotten to mention are always low when you do a cold outreach campaign, especially if it is carried out via a social media like LinkedIn or via email where most of the recipients get used to seeing boring generic messages starting with "Hi there, bla-bla-bla".
These days you need to be more creative and craft really outstanding messages since the simple use of the receiver's first name in a message body is hardly a personalization and will draw the attention of an innocent lead only.
"What should I do then?" you might have thought. The answer is simple: if the campaign is running in LinkedIn via Linked Helper, then you need to hyper personalize your messages.
One way to do it is to use our Message Template Editor PRO where you can use not only built-in variables like {company}, {position}, {industry}, etc. but custom variables and IF THEN ELSE clauses as well.
Another way is to attach images, both personalized and generic ones, to the messages sent. Linked Helper 2 feature is implemented for specifically for marketers and sellers allows them to add an image attachment to your messages to first connections to attract more attention and make messages more valuable.
It's possible to attach a generic image as well as use built-in integration with Uclic or Hyperise in order to create images with custom text for each profile.
Important to know:
- At the moment, you can not attach an image to your invitation to connect, InMail messages, and messages to group members.
- You can only send attachments through the basic LinkedIn platform. If you've collected your contacts from a Sales Navigator or Recruiter search, then you'll need to change the platform of your contacts
How to attach an image from a custom field
If you want to send a regular image(s) to your first connections, then you need to follow these simple steps:
- Upload image into a cloud or server and get the image direct URL
- Create a custom field with the image URL
- Set the custom field in the message template as the source for the image
A few things to keep in mind:
- Your picture has to be in one of the following formats: 'png', 'jpg', 'jpeg', 'JFIF' or 'pjpeg'
- If you've uploaded or selected an empty custom field, then the whole message won't be sent.
- The file size must not exceed 10 megabytes.
Upload image into a cloud or server and get the image direct URL
Let's take Google Drive as an example of a cloud for hosting images. You need to:
- Upload image:
- Share it with everyone:
- Now, get the link to the image that can be processed by Linked Helper 2:
From GDrive you can use any online converter like this one - https://www.gdirect.link/ - or change the link manually:
If you copy the shareable link and paste it into any text editor, you will see a link similar to this one:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/12lb9i4xBvXzYIXCwBcOSunGQACZQtZWW/view ?usp=sharing
where the series of letters and numbers after the /file/d/
and before /view?usp=sharing
part is an image identifier, which you need to copy and paste to your direct link. This direct link has the following form:
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=*img_id*
So what you need to do now is to replace the *img_id*
part from the sample of the link above with the series of letters and numbers copied from the shareable link (in this example, it is 12lb9i4xBvXzYIXCwBcOSunGQACZQtZW
). This way, you get the proper direct URL ready to use.
For example:
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=12lb9i4xBvXzYIXCwBcOSunGQACZQtZWW
From your personal / company server:
If you want to upload the image on your personal server, contact the admin who can easily manage all tasks (uploading, granting access, getting the URL). Here is how a direct link to the image looks like (taken from Wikipedia):

Create a custom field with the image URL
- Download profiles from Linked Helper
- Open a CSV with your contacts
- After you've opened your CSV file, you need to create a custom variable with the URL of your picture. Here is the link to the full article - Custom Fields. In this example, we'll call it "cs_image":
- Once a custom field is created, you need to install Custom template variables plugin and upload the CSV file with custom fields into your campaign.
Set the custom field in the message template as the source for the image
- Install Attach personalized images plugin
- Open your message template, select the "From custom variable" option in the "Attachment image URL" section and select your custom variable from the list. There won't be any preview available until the URL is pasted into the custom variable template on the right side:
- You can test the URL of your image in the right section of the message template. If the URL is correct and an image is supported by Linked Helper 2, then a preview will be loaded and shown in the preview:
- Done! You can now send a message to your contacts with an image attachment:
