Note: at the moment, registration of new users is disabled in their service, so it was temporarily deleted from the Linked Helper. Meanwhile, you can use Hyperise as an alternative - How to add personalized images to your messages from Hyperise
When talking about hyper-personalization, you cannot avoid the idea of sending personalized images or redirecting leads to your website via links with personalized previews or even to the personalized custom landing pages.
Uclic is a service that helps you in creating such images and links in a fast and efficient way, with no need for programming skills. You can learn a bit more about Uclic from this article.
Uclic integration is one more step for marketers to improve their outreach campaign.
A few things that you need to keep in mind when adding or editing the Uclic images:
- Only image will be sent via this method. If you'd like to send a link to your website with custom preview, please, refer to this article: What is Uclic and how it will help you increase reply rate (p. What can you use Uclic for?)
-
If you alter your image template, then the changes will affect only those messages that were sent after the image was altered. Your old messages won't be affected.
-
If you need to add a custom first name to your image, it's better to create a custom variable on Uclic for those custom names in order to avoid confusion.
Let us review the steps you need to do in order to add a personalized image from Uclic into LinkedIn as attachments:
Create a campaign.
- Go to the Campaigns menu and create a new campaign:
- Navigate to the Template Gallery menu and choose any template. You can create a new one from scratch or use a predefined one:
- When the template is created, it already has three built-in variables ({{firstname}} or {{f}}, {{lastname}} or {{l}}, {{company}} or {{c}}) that you may use in your text message on image:
Adjust the template
- You can replace the image: take from Background Gallery (1), paste a direct link to the image (2), or upload the image from your PC (3):
Note: thumbnail title won't be seen if the image is sent via built-in integration.
- You can change the text in the picture as well. The code in the Content field may seem to be difficult to understand, but you can simply alter the text and that's it. You can use HTML and CSS here, for example:
Code example | What you see |
line <br> break |
line break |
<strong>Bold text</strong> | Bold text |
<h1>Title 1</h1> |
Title 1 |
<h2>Title 2 (smaller)</h2> |
Title 2 (smaller) |
<h2>Title 3 (smaller)</h2> |
Title 3 (smaller) |
- You can add more variables to your picture by using custom variables as it is shown below.
Add custom variables
It is possible to send other Linked Helper variables, both custom and built-in ones, to the Uclic's image so you are not limited here in any way.
If you want to upload a standard Linked Helper variable such as industry, you simply add it to Uclic as it is shown below:
You can add custom Linked Helper variables the same way you add built-in ones. The only difference is that a custom Linked Helper variable must start with "cs_", for example, "cs_gender" hence you should add the same name to Uclic as well, i.e. if in Linked Helper 2 custom variable named "cs_email", then the same name (without quotes) should be used in Uclic.
There is no IF THEN ELSE clauses in Uclic, so the text may look awkward if a profile does not have a variable, so please:
- Make sure custom variable is uploaded to the profiles who will receive the message. You can download profiles from Linked Helper, open the file in MS Excel, and check the variable in the corresponding column.
- There are 3 levels of custom fields (CRM-, campaign-, action-level), and the action-level custom field is not available in any other action apart from the one it was uploaded to. The same applies to the campaign-level custom field: it is available to all Actions but only in one Campaign.
- If for some reason there is no custom variable for certain profiles (e.g. there is no company for self-employed), then it's better to make sure the message will look appealing even without custom filed. For example, replace "You can get more leads for {{company}}" with "You can get more leads for {{company}} company", so the results would be:
-
- You can get more leads for Microsoft company
- You can get more leads for company
-
In this example, we will be using a custom variable from Uclic to tailor your message by the gender of the recipient: How to tailor your message by gender of the recipient? Here is what you need to do:
- Press the "Add Variable" button:
- Give your variable a name and don't forget to insert it into your "Content settings" section. In the example below the Uclic variables are {{firstname}} or {{f}}, {{lastname}} or {{l}}, {{company}} or {{c}}. You can use any variant of naming in the "Content settings". The custom variable used in Linked Helper 2 is cs_gender, so we added to Uclic its name. The resulted variable {{cs_gender}} with double curved brackets will be used in the "Content settings":
- To add your personalized image you need to save it:
- After that copy the link:
- Install Attach personalized images plug-in;
- Paste it into "Uclic" section in the message template:
- After you've inserted your link, a preview of the image should be loaded, as well as the list of Uclic variables. To use custom variable, Custom template variables plug-in must be installed.
- If for some reason Uclic link misses certain parameters you added and there are fewer variables than you've had on Uclic (let's say the link looks like this - https://ucli.cc/l/vP51?f={{firstname}}), then you need to add the missing ones manually and assign Linked Helper 2 variables to them:
- Each Uclic variable is the variable that you've added during the creation of your personalized image. You can assign Linked Helper 2 variables to Uclic ones, thus creating personalized images with the help of Linked Helper 2 data. Here is the final result:
Here is the final result:
It is even possible to use plain text in the Uclic custom variables instead of Linked Helper variables. For example, I want to insert the name of the month / year when the message is sent, so I can simply add a Uclic custom variable and then put the current month instead of Linked Helper 2 variable name:
Here is the resulted image:
