General information
Ignore generic replies is a plugin that allows you to send an automated messages to profiles even if they replied. You need to set up certain generic phrases that should be ignored and not counted as replies, for example, 'Thanks for connecting'. If a person sends such a phrase in reply, Linked Helper will send a follow-up to the profile anyway.
To enable it please:
- Navigate to the Plug-in Store menu.
- Find Ignore generic replies plug-in and click Install button:
- Once plug-in is installed, Ignore generic replies can be found in the Advanced settings tab of the Message to 1st connections, Message to event attendees, Check for replies, and Message to group members, actions:
Use case
You created an inviting campaign for your potential clients with a follow-up to those who accepted our invitation. Many of the profiles who became your 1st-degree connections reply to your invitation message, but a significant part of profiles reply with ‘Thanks’, ‘Happy to connect’, and other similar generic phrases. This type of reply is detected by Linked Helper as well, and profiles in the Replied list are moved out of the workflow, which means you need to manually review all the replies and retry profiles if you want them to receive the follow-up anyway. After the plug-in is installed and set up, it allows you to avoid this kind of manual work, and Linked Helper will send a follow-up even if the profile replies with a standard phrase you mentioned in the settings.
There is an ‘Endorse my contacts’ action in the middle of one of your messaging sequence campaigns. This action warms the leads up by endorsing their ‘Team Management’ skill before another follow-up is sent. However, lots of profiles do not receive follow-ups since they reply with a standard LinkedIn ‘Thanks for endorsing me for Team Management’ phrase. When set up accordingly, the ‘Ignore generic replies’ plug-in allows you to send a follow-up to those who replied with the standard phrase.
Detailed description
Before sending a follow-up or moving the profile into the Replied list, Linked Helper analyzes messaging history with a profile.
With Ignore generic replies plug-in installed and enabled with the settings like in the screenshot above, Linked Helper will do the following:
- Clear reply from:
- the symbols mentioned in the settings;
- emojis;
- all non-printing characters (they will be replaced with a single space).
- Compare the reply with the phrases in the settings.
If there is a full match, then Linked Helper will ignore such a reply and send a message or move profile to the next action Queue. If received phrase is not identical to any one in the setting, Linked Helper will move the profile into the Replied list of the action.
Please note that:
- a profile can send several messages in response, and every message is counted as a separate phrase;
- if a profile sends several messages, and at least one doesn't match with the phrases in the settings, the profile will be moved into replied list;
- the phrase check is case insensitive, i.e. 'Thanks' is equal to 'tHANKS' and will NOT be detected as reply;
- regexp is not supported;
- any other symbols that are not in the settings will not be ignored during comparing, for example, in the screenshot above there are no colon and parenthesis marks, hence 'Thanks :)' is NOT equal to 'Thanks' and will be detected as reply.
