General information
This Action is used to send messages to 1st connections. It can be useful for both sellers and recruiters who want to message their existing network. You can add it to your campaign if you click '+Add action' button in the Workflow tab:
By default, only a couple of options are available yet it is possible to add extra functionality any time via plugin installation:
Message tab
In the Message tab, you can set up a subject (when sending via Recruiter) and a message template itself (including images that can be sent to the profiles):
You can customize your template using custom variables, personalized images, or IF THEN ELSE clauses. For that, you need to enable these plugins:
- Conditional IF-THEN-ELSE operator for Message template editor
- Custom template variables
- Attach personalized images

Message analyzer tab
Allows you to automatically detect replies to previously sent messages:
- switch on reply detection: when Reject if a contact replied after # setting is enabled, Linked Helper takes the date of sent message/invitation from the above action in the current campaign and searches for any reply sent after the date the message above was sent. This option is available only if there is 'Invite 2nd and 3rd level contacts or another 'Message to 1st connections' actions above current action.
- switch on rejecting already messaged profiles: when Reject if you messaged a contact after # setting is enabled, Linked Helper won't message those who were already messaged by you after the previous message sent by Linked Helper 2.
- switch on rejecting already messaged profiles: when Reject if you or LH messaged a contact after connection date: setting is enabled, Linked Helper won't message those who were already messaged by you or Linked Helper after the connection date.
When Reject if a contact replied after settings is enabled, Replied sub-list added below the Action. It contains those who replied to the previous message of the campaign:
Please note:
- the messaging history analyzer works for 1st level connections in regular LinkedIn, Sales Navigator, and Recruiter;
- the messaging history analyzer checks for replies or sent messages to the profile only in one platform - usually it's the one where the previous message was sent - it does not check messaging history in several platforms; in case no message was sent previously via the given campaign, Linked Helper checks messaging history only in the platform through which current messages will be sent;
- Linked Helper won't send a message if the last message is exactly the same as the one you're about to send. This is done to avoid occasional duplicates;

when sending a chain of messages to your 1st-degree connections via Recruiter, you should know that LinkedIn creates a message request instead of a regular message. Until the request is not accepted, it is saved in the Awaiting Reply section of Recruiter inbox, and you won't be able to send a follow-up in exactly the same thread, as well as Linked Helper won't be able to do that.
Even though it is possible to send a new message request in Recruiter, this request will create a new messaging thread with no previous messages visible. Linked Helper does not create a new message requests because, in such a case, Linked Helper won't be able to detect replies to the previously sent messages in the campaign as the tool checks only one thread. That's why by default Linked Helper will be waiting till the initial message request is accepted before sending a follow-up. - when a profile is being processed by "Message to 1st connections", message history is checked only once.
Enhance this action with:
- Conditional IF-THEN-ELSE operator for Message template editor - add conditional IF clauses to modify message content depending on the absence/presence of variable content or for different sets of variables.
- Custom template variables - extend message template editor with user-defined variables, for example {cs_my_tracking_url} or {cs_translated_firstname}.
- Attach personalized images -send not only personalized text messages, but personalized images as well.
- Filter by message content - prevent message sending in the event that a certain phrase or phrases that match a regular expression were found in one of the previous messages.
- Send replied to Webhook - send those who replied to any other external CRM.
- Tagging system - automatically tag successfully processed profiles to filter and group them when needed.
- Postpone action start - postpone Action to let other Actions run.
- Action steps delays - change timeouts to process profiles slower and be on the safe side.
- Override platform - choose where to process profiles: regular LinkedIn, Sales Navigator, or Recruiter.
